why aren't you using a receiver/ESC with BEC ?
you won't need the receiverbattery anymore.
btw, with those plates, any water that will make it on your ship will stay there longer, so the chance that the water gets in your ship is bigger.
many people use ducktape to seal the hatch, i guess it works
