You are not letting the best AM pilot's fly AM, you are letting the best pattern pilots fly AM. And they might just suck at it...
OK, let's have a look at the results :

If I would have strictly adhered to the contest description (only Top 12 in F3P-Expert and Top 6 in F3P-Sport), we would not have seen the AeroMusicals of Bert van der Vecht, Boris Ziegenhagen, Dennis Heskamp and Nando te Riele.

Would it have made any difference in in the podium places? No. Actually, it would not have made any difference in the first six places.

With a better (= lighter) model, I am sure Dennis Heskamp also would have made it into the top six in F3P-Sport.

The results prove, that the best "Pattern Pilots" usually also come up with the best AeroMusicals.

Well, i do not agree with you again in this subject.
The 3 times i flew my AM in germany where the first 3 time's my am plane flew, so of coarse i did not do well.

ALL my preparation was based on the rules. Needing to place top 12 to fly AM.
And i would have, if my battery stayed on in flight 2 or i had the right model in the transmitter for round 2. (both had the same % score, only ~20 under what was needed) (and the way i read the rules i placed right now, because not all top 12 a pilots also flew AM)
Also, if i was not allowed to fly AM i would have fought the judges decision in flight 3, either resulting in a 0 in the hole flight of 10's for the start (because the start did not start yet))

If i would have prepared the way i would have done if i was sure i was able to compete in AM, my AM plane would be done before my A plane. Flying A with a (almost?) unknown plane and having lots of flights with the am plane, and way more practice am flights.

So saying the rule would not make any differance is something you cannot say imo.

Well, what can I say? The dates for the German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2011 were announced 12 months prior to the event, so you had plenty of time to build your model.
It was even announced in advance, that all competitors who had registered for F3P-AM would be allowed to participate - independant from their ranking in pattern.

As in the previous 8 years, the top pilots in pattern also achieved top positions in the AeroMusicals category. Something you can't disagree with, because these are facts.

Properly fixing flight batteries or selecting the correct model memory is the sole responsibility of the competitor. Everbody had plenty of time to do so, especially as there was no transmitter impound.
