i think its best if you just place your request here because there are more ppl on this forum than in a single club.
what do you have in mind?

That's not neccesarily true, Alexzzz.. if he's looking for indoor F3A flyers, this thread is in the right place..

"an art project" could be almost anything, it would be nice if Mu Xue gives us some details of his plans?:p

Thanks so much ! ! :o

that's truly right, ok here is more details about it!

i am looking for a small group of model plane experts to fly / or to perform with their plane in certain area above a dutch highway (A1),
the idea is flying with color smoke that create temporary traces in the sky.
(the duration and performance details is not yet known - more details like those will be figured out after to know the technical possibilities.)

so that the question is:
( ..pls don't laugh at the questions or to be offended as you know that this is not my profession... :P )

* what is the rage of height is a model plane could approach from ground level?

* is it common or possible that a model-plane could fly with smoke or color smoke?

* is there any possibility for a model-plan to fly in certain trace for example : circle or any kind of curves?

I will be grateful to hear from you responds!!!!!

with hartelijk bedankt^^^

Considering your plan, you're in the wrong part of this forum. This is the F3P section, which means it's subject is indoor flight with small and light models. Such models wouldn't be capable of executing your plan in a safe manner.

Which brings me to the next issue.. executing this plan in a safe manner. Do you have permission of the authorities to perform such a plan? The A1 is one of the biggest and busiest dutch highways, if something were to go wrong and traffic would get stalled, the costs would be enormous. I can't imagine the authorities agreeing on this plan.

In answer to your questions:

1) how high -> high enough. Higher than you can see.

2) there are people who have smoke installations on board their planes. Mostly big gasoline powered planes, spanwidth roughly about 2m and above

3) yes this is possible, but very hard to do and considering your plan there are only a handfull of pilots who would be capable of doing it

In all honesty, I would set this plan aside. Though it is doable, it is highly unlikely that those who are capable, will willingly fly their planes above one of the busiest dutch highways. The riscs of such an undertaking are simply too big.

However, if you insist on following thru on this ghastly plan of yours (;)), I suggest you try reposting your question in the 'modelvliegen algemeen' section of this forum, or in the 'modelbouwcafe'. If you do so, please be so elaborate as possible.

Dear Hezik,

Thanks very much for your response!
Your answers are very helpful. :D
It is exciting to know that those technics are very possible!

i am doing research on the possibilities for the performances at this stage,
For the realization, a proposal has to be approved and certainly some details has to be discussed with concerned art institutions and highway organizations.
The plan will only possible to be executed with official permission so that the concept and the manner of the performance must be considered as safe and making sense.

However, yes, i am going to insist my 'ghastly' plan as i am convinced that it will be a beautiful and exciting thing to happen!! :Fade-color :rainbow1: :turn-l: :rolling:

I will get in contact with people who could tell me things about highway policy a.s.a.p.

Thanks & Greetings to all you guys, it's my pleasure of having your attention & help!!

p.s, Also thanks for let me know that F3P is indoor model plane, i will be interested of doing some research on F3P - there might be chance that I'd love to invite F3P experts to perform in an indoor condition with a good concept.

Dear Mu Xu,

If you want to know more about F3P flying I suggest you look on youtube.
There are lots of movies concerning this championship.

The nicest thing to see in F3P is the aeromusicle where there's being flown on music....this is the dutch champion for example...

There is also A large Indoor model plane Gala show on the 20th of december in loon op zand in the south of the netherlands......

It's called Wall-halla and these links are from the german edition last year:

In all honesty, flying big airplanes near or above a highway would be dangerous to the traffic. Car drivers would get distracted by the airplane(s) and an accident could easily happen.

Your idea of such a performance above a high way simply will not happen because of the risk. It is forbidden to fly rc model planes above public ... it will certainly be above a high way. If anything goes wrong, people may get killed.

SilentScope's suggestion is a good one and I know a suitable location for you, the former navy airbase Valkenburg in Zuid-Holland:
1e Mientlaan, Katwijk 2223 Katwijk, Zuid-Holland, Nederland - Google Maps

This terrain is waiting for further development and is still being used by several flying clubs. It has also been used for zeppelin flights, as well as non-aviation events like car presentations. It is closed for public and therefore safe for a plan like yours. The field has a long airstrip as you can see in the google maps link above.

If you want to know more you must contact the department Domeinen of the ministry of Finances. If you're serious, I can find out for you who to contact. I'm member of one of the flying clubs at this field.

Here some more nice links for your inspiration:
