Hi, I like to design model planes that are not available as ARF, or have been modeled over and over again. I especially love to focus on European aircraft designs. I did an extensive web search for another design job, that would include commercial distribution of plans and building instructions, and I found an interesting plane that has not been done too often if at all: the Fokker S-11. After successful test flights of the prototype, plans will be made available to let fellow RC enthusiasts enjoy building this beautiful aircraft. The plane will be small and thus very affordable. 90 cm wingspan and a 2S LiPo power arrangement. This picture inspired me to model the Fokker S-11. Source: Wikimedia.
Hello Marco, De S11 did ring a bell as modell, sometime ago these where a common sight at some local modell-flying fields. Did a quick search and found some info confirming this on this same forum {url]http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/bouw-en-vlieg-ervaringen-met-de-fokker-s-11.32559/[/URL] This also confirmed I am getting old and seem to remember silly facts from the past. Quick translation, back in 1996 a dutch hobby magazine (called Hobby Bulletin) had a article relating to S11 and building plans. Size just above 2meter wingspan, mostly powered by Zenoah 22 gas-engines. Back then several of this planes were build and flown in the Netherlands. The magazine doesn't exist anymore, have no idea if and where the plans are preserved. You could try to contact a dutch hobby shop, www.hobbyin.nl. Back then they had moulds and the possibilty to create canopy's
Thank you Rick. My Fokker will have not even half the wingspan. I use QCAD for design work and I am pretty close to the finish line. I am actually waiting for balsa wood supplies to arrive to proceed with the build. Regards, Marco
