Been busy, my latest ideas . This sign comes up with three choices, I never know which to choose, I picked the top one. I guess it's because I started with a predrawn file and altered it
 
You have combined multiple files representing separate 3D objects in your main file (assembly or a part?), which are all separate files on your computer storage drive.
Obviously this is sophisticated software you are using, since you can put 3D objects inside a single file and keep it's original relation.

The question you get is if you want to update (overwrite) the original file you have created, or keep it and store the newer version under a new filename.

Versioning is a science on itself ;)

So by choosing option 1 , I loose the original. Except the new drawing keeps the same file name ?

The new foil is attached to the ski with last one in front to show the difference. Still doesn't feel like i have quite cracked it yet, but getting nearer, testing will need to be done.
 
Lex suggested to use a metal foil so you can bend it at the waterside.
Why not a hybrid where you place the downforce wing sections to the metal strips?

I am sure this will work too, but you probably need more iterations before you are right in the ballpark.

Tried floating Alina in the pond , she tipped on her side. So tried with 3g on each side, still not straight. 5g on each side perfect, so 2 bits of lead glued to the rear should do it. Next time 2 slots will be added to take 2x 20p coin, they weigh exactly 5g each.
 
Or reduce the surface of the negative wings, or their AoA!
Obviouisly there was too much downforce.

It is possible to do some calculations, however those are hard and complex.
 
Photo one shows the new shape on the right has more curve than an earlier try.
Photo 2 and 3 shows the similarities between the two new foils.
Last photo shows the slots for 20p to keep her balanced right, floating vertically.
I expect the hybrid to work well, and it can be bent by hand. For the full print I think I am getting closer, if it works I will just tweek it slightly.
The bottom is just an oval, no fancy wing shape
 
Success...they both work! I had to adjust the tow line length , but that was it off she went. A slight wobble noticed, any ideas why that would occur? and quite a lot of spray, the two may be linked. Film to follow.
I could shorten the blades a little on the full print version and maybe have them rounded.

When I came to look at the drawing I realised it was corrupted, so I had to remove a big chunk and redo it. I was lucky not to loose the whole thing, I will need to test these blue ones, but feel sure it will work.
 
The blue foils worked well, and drew low amps. People can walk along the lakeside, quite a few stop in amazement at seeing a skier behind the boat. Today one even popped in to congratulate me he thought it was great. I now have a new ringo made from a circle of polystyrene, so it's becoming a water sports centre :rolleyes:
 
Next a wake-boarder, or a paraglider!
It is an amazing sight, a mono-ski behind an RC!
If I had not seen the foils under water and Lex's earlier footage, I would never have believed it could be possible!
