@Dim: the centre of gravity (cog) for a mono hull is at 30% from the transom, give or take. I made a big lipo tray to shift the cog. I need to decide where the speed controller will be as well. Ideally, just behind the motor.

Too bad your motor takes a long time to arrive[emoji51].
I still need some time before I can put this boat in the water, but getting your new items is always nice.

I guess I will do the painting next spring. The wooden look is not too bad either [emoji6]. Only the driver cockpit might look strange.

By the way, I ordered some carbon fiber for a DIY outboard for the Bernico F2 [emoji41]. I hope to pick up that project after this one.

Indeed, the wooden look is very nice and in my opinion it can be harmonicly combined with other colors as well. Take a look at this hull:

Thus, you may find a nice paint scheme (you are an expert in this) including a painted cockpit. This naked look is very popular in US but I think that they do not even fiberglassing their boats.

I hear good news about carbon fiber and diy outboard. The Bernico deserves a nice outboard!

That is good looking indeed [emoji106]. You are right, glassing the outside of the hull seems uncommon in US. I glass all my boats, because I like high speeds and I cannot keep my boats always the right side up [emoji28].
But it makes a clean naked look more difficult.
I will see how the glass comes out. I do like a nice paint scheme as well.

The Bernico outboard is a project I look forward to. I will use the insane design as main inspiration. But, it will take a while still. I do 1 project at the time [emoji28]

Thanks Dim, I appreciate it [emoji106]. I try to show a bit more of the actual build steps, and the rudder was the first example. Next step is to record the actual DIY work, such as laminaring the deck. I will try to include some in the next video.

Hier weer een update. Het dek heeft een rand gekregen om de kap op af te steunen.

De boeg gevuld met Pool noodle:

Verstevigingsrails ingelijmd en een extra strookje weefsel 110gr/m2 daar waar de lipo komt:

Vervolgens het dek erop gelijmd met verdikte epoxy:

Het dek getrimmed met een klein schaafblokje, werkt perfect:

De cockpit getekend in CAD. Die maak ik van schuim met een aantal ribben erin. Binnenkort aan beginnen.

Everything looks so clean and so nicely fitted together !
I have also a small scraper block and I use it exactly for the same work, very useful.
The cowl is beautiful and gives the wild thing a unique style that i haven' t seen before.
Nevertheless, you workbench steals the show!
I mean it is sooooo clean everytime you post your work!
I also try to keep it as clean as possible but most of the times it is a total mess!

Superstrak werk weer. Wel even een klein verbeterpuntje en dat is je hoeklijntje voor het roer. Dat gaat het niet houden met een flip namelijk. Geen kritiek hoor want het is echt weer superstrak en ik zie hem graag in april in levendelijve.

Bedankt Henrik, ook voor je verbeterpuntje. Ik betwijfel zelf ook of mijn roer sterk genoeg is [emoji28]. Op mijn Hydromite zit ook een houten roer en die heb ik al verschillende keren moeten repareren na een flip.
Misschien een goed idee om een hoeklijn aan de andere kant toe te voegen?

Meteen even een update dan maar. Het dek, de spiegel en de zijkanten zijn gelamineerd. 2x een 50gr/m2 weefsel in 1 stuk erover. Dat was wel even werk, maar het is gelukt.
In de volgende bouwvideo komt het ook terug.

Rechts aan de zijkant zit een schoonheidsfoutje. Er zit een del / holling in. Die kan je op de bovenstaande foto's ook zien. Die wil ik graag nog eruit halen, het zit mij niet lekker [emoji28]. De bodem is kaarsrecht, het zit puur in de zijkant.

I like one piece fiber, I believe it adds to the overall strength of the hull. And of course you beveled the edges right?
I can't fully understand where exactly the imperfection locates but I guess it is where the wood is sanded a little bit more.
This is not important for the performance of the hull. The straight bottom is what it counts the most!!

I'm quite a perfectionist, but here's the imperfection:

Yes, I rounded the edges so I could laminate "around the corner" [emoji3]

Indeed, but when you see 100 kph you gonna forget it.

In such cases I usually use thin and light balsa 1mm-2mm to fill the gap and then sanding and laminating that spot with fiberglass. It usually works fine for me but you cannot have a "naked" look in that case.

Haha, dat is wel erg rigoureus [emoji1787]. Ik heb er al heel wat uurtjes inzitten, dus laat ik dat maar niet doen. Dit rompje gaat gewoon 100+ km/u varen en die kleine deuk gaan jullie straks niet meer zien[emoji13].
