Nog een T-Rex Filmpje

Netjes Josh!
Ik scheet in mijn broek toen ik hem na een jaar voor het eerst omgooide (was wel een grote heli) Daarna ging m'n leercurve weer snel omhoog.

Laurens, agreed... not the music i would have chosen either but i didnt make the video :)

Satoer,
Yeh it was scary as hell for me the first time too. Still is a bit but im starting to stay much calmer now which is the secret to flying it smoothly i think. Stay calm and focused and dont let your nerves get the better of you and then you can just work on the technique. I agree once you get past the first major steps of getting it inverted your learning curve really starts taking off again :) Im still a loooong way from your level but ill get there :)

In case anyone is curious, Ive been flying about 9 months now.

Cheers,
Josh

Well... Its pretty blinged but most of the bling i have doesnt make it fly any better it just makes it more durable in a crash (The full metal head has been crashed 9 times now with no damage to any metal parts).

The only exception is that im using the Mega 16/15/3 brushless motor for a bit more power.

Here is a full list of equipment on this heli:

Mega 16/15/3 with 13T pinion
TP2100 3 cell
CSM 560 Micro gyro
HS-56's all around
Futaba 156iP 6 chan PCM RX
Align Full metal head
MFIS CNC tail case with aluminum cnc pulley
SAB 320 CF blades
Castle Creations Phoenix 35A ESC

The SAB 305mm blades are actually a bit better for 3D i think because the longer 320mm SAB blades create a gyro effect which makes the heli alot more stable and slow the cyclic response down quite a bit. I also lose about 200-300 RPM headspeed with the longer SAB's. If you want faster roll/flip rate on a micro you have to sacrifice some of the hovering stability to get it.

Mooi flilmpje, goed gevlogen 8)
Ik weet niet hoelang het leren normaal gesproken duurt maar ik vind het erg goed met nog maar 9 maand vliegen.
Groeten,
Arno

Hoi hoi,

8O Verry nice flying. And also a nice "smooth"sound (of the T-rex, not the music 8) ). This sound, is it due to the SAB blades? The sound of mine is a littlebit "rougher", I also use a Mega (that can not be the difference), but with te Align abs blades (undestructable by the way  ).

Gr.A.

Hoi Aalie,

If its rough sounding you prolly have a vibration issue somewhere which is causing resonant high frequency vibrations and noise. The blades wont really make a difference unless they are out of balance which is actually quite common for those ABS blades. There are a million things that can cause vibes so i wont bother listing them all but in my experience a loud TREX is simply vibration caused by imbalance on the main head or the tail rotor

Having said all that, I should tell you that almost NOONE uses those abs blades except when they are beginning. If you have already taken off the training gear then you should also get rid of those horrible abs blades. Even the woodies are 200% better than the ABS. :)

Cheers,
Josh

P.S. I also run a very high head speed. 2750 RPM or so at 0 deg. pitch. Thats 95% throttle with the mega 3 turn and 13 tooth pinion for me.

Hello :D ,

What is the problem with the ABS blade's ?? You were right, they were (before using) not balanced at all, but i'm allergic to vibration and I've even balanced the tailblades  .
I've flown with woodies, and with the ABS blades. In my opion the T-rex performs with both wel enough for my flyingstyle, but its a lot easyer with the ABS blades than with the woodies. Another good thing is that they are allmost undestructable. They've survived more then 20 crashes 8O , and this one pair off blades also destroyed several tailbooms. Still there in balance, and still performing well 8) .

By the way, the rougher sound of my T-rex was mainly caused by a worn out pinion and main gear. I've replaced them, and the T-rex runs a lot smoother now.

Greetings A.

I guess its just a matter of preference on your blade choice. I found the ABS blades to be badly out of balance, bent, and very hard to get them to track. :) If they work for you the way you want them to then dont let anyone tell you not to use them :)
