A one minute silence will be held at midday for the fallen from all sides.

Proof of BMFA or LMA insurance will need to be provided on the day.

Food, Drink, Bar and Toilet facilities are available at the club house.

Please post on this thread if interested.
If you could also post some pictures of the models that you intend to bring to the event that would be nice.

Caravan and camping facilities are available at Tibenham airfield.

Flying Legends full size airshow at Duxford is due to be held on
the 11th and 12th of July which is the following days after this event.
So you could fly your models on the Friday and go to Legends at the weekend. https://www.flyinglegends.com/

Dutch scale legend Jan Hermkens has attended this event on two occasions, his B17 and P61 were superb and flown beautifully by Jan.

Everyone will be made welcome.

Thank you.

Thank you for your welcome.

It is quite embarrassing as most people can speak English
where ever they come from but very few English people
can speak another language.

Can someone explain how I can post pictures here please?

Regards Phil G.

Dear Phil,

Click on 'Gebruikersinstellingen'. (User Settings)
click on 'Afbeeldingen & Fotoalbums' (Images & photo albums)
click 'foto album toevoegen' (toevoegen = add )

Then you can fill in the subject ('onderwerp') and a description ('beschrijving') and you will see a link to upload your images.

After you have uploaded your images you select [toevoegen] under 'Mijn foto's.'

kind regards,
Cees

AFAK the "fotoalbums" is only available to paying subscribers (may be not?). If you can store your picture on any public server (i.e. Photobucket or similar), just get the URL and place it in between

Dear Cees and Max
Thank you very much for your help.
Hopefully now I will be able to post some pictures
of my previous events, so everyone can get a flavour of what they are like.

Thank you.

This picture is of a Spitfire MKII and MKXIX from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. They put on a short display for us at our 2013 Bob event.

hi Phil, my english friend,

I am happy you managed it at last, to open your threads yourself here on the dutch forum. :D:D:D

This year I will not come to participate the Salute to the 445th Bomb Group in July.:(:(:(

I think most of the visitors here don't know that the former movie actor James Stewart was a pilot too of the 445th Bomb Group, stationed at Tibenham, he was pilot of a B-24 Liberator, but has also flown the B-17 Flying Fortress.

Many regards,
your dutch friend, Jan.

Dear Jan
Thank you for posting pictures of your exquisite models here.
They bring back wonderful memories, I just wish the weather could
have been better for you on both occasions you came over.

It was an honour and a pleasure for us to host a modeller
of such high standing as yourself at our humble event.
Thank you very much.

Yes not everyone knows that James Stewart was a WW2 Bomber Pilot
and flew a lot of missions leading from the front.

There is quite an interesting article in this months Flypast magazine
regarding the 445th Bomb Group taken part in low level supply missions
during operation varsity the crossing of the Rhine.

Another mission the 445th BG were involved in was the infamous Kassel
mission. Thirty nine aircraft from Tibenham were due to take part in the mission, there were four aborts so thirty five aircraft actually got over Germany. The lead navigator made a navigational error and the 445th
became separated from the main bomber stream, the error was quickly noticed but it was too late. So it was decided to go on to a secondary target which was a place called Gottingen.

To cut a long story short, the 445th were set upon by over one hundred German fighters and twenty five aircraft went down in a ten mile radius of the target. Only five made it back to Tibenham.

You can read the full account of this mission at the link below.

www.kasselmission.com

There is a strong chance that I will be test flying a B17 for
someone at another B24 base. The base in question is Shipdham
which was home to the 44th Bomb Group 'The flying eightballs' during WW2. I must admit I am looking forward to flying the B17.

Regards The flying Englishman. :D

Dear All
I received word on Friday from the RAF events team informing me
that we will be receiving a flypast by the magnificent BBMF Dakota
at this event. Yippee.

Dear All
That is another week gone, only four weeks to go now until this event.

If anyone is coming over to the UK for the Flying Legends airshow at Duxford.
Why not come to Tibenham on the Friday and fly your models
at an historic airfield. Tibenham is approximately 50 miles from Duxford.

I was talking to my unruly nephew Mudders at the excellent Fens event last Sunday.
We were discussing how we liked to see formations and unusual formation at scale events.

So if anyone has an idea for a formation if you could post it here please.
Obviously it depends on who and what turns up on the day.

It seems to me when you try to organise a formation that is when
the gremlins will strike. I can remember we had three Tony Nijhuis eleven foot lancs
at one of the events at Coltishall. We first tried to get that formation airborne at 11am
it finally got airborne at 4:30 in the afternoon it lasted half a circuit the Yorkshire lanc
developed a fault and landed out. Short but sweet.

Last year at the Bob event at Tibenham, we were going to honour the BBMF and
the CWH Lancaster summer with a flypast by a tug towing the Canadian and British flags
followed by two 11 foot Lancs.

Everything was in order and all three models were serviceable.
That is until one of the helpers whacked his foot into Ivan G's
Lancs elevators. The elevator was pointing almost vertical it looked
like it had the movement of a 3D model.
The Lanc was repaired so we thought we would try again,
only for the tug to develope a technical that could not be sorted at the field.

The gremlins strike yet again.

You would think it would be relatively easy in this day an age to get
the formations airborne, nothing could be further from the truth.

Will we keep trying? Hell yes.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All
I have been in contact with the BBMF today,
the Dakota is on for a 12:01 (local) three pass display.

It will close the short remembrance ceremony nicely.

John R. is due to attend with his EDF (Shubeler) MR. Venom.
Hopefully a picture is attached below.

Dear All
I am extremely pleased, in fact I am shaking to inform you
that we will be receiving a flypast by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team for 2015,
The Red Arrows. They are due to Flyover at 11:07 (Local) weather and serviceability permitting.

I have been trying for the last twelve years first at Coltishall and now at Tibenham
to get them to perform a flypast at one of my events.
Then out of the blue they contacted me this morning to say they will be flying over
on Friday the 10th of July at 11:07am (Local).

I was only talking to Kev (NSS) at the recent Fens event regarding
things I would like to achieve at my events.

1) Get a veteran to attend
2) Get the Lancaster to flyover
3) The Red Arrows to flyover.

Hopefully I will be able to cross one of those off very shortly.

Regards An ecstatic Phil G.
