Hello to all of you!
I'm new in the forum and would like to introduce myself: I live in Germany, understand and speak a litte Netherlands, but cannot write it (so that anybody would understand). So pls. apologize my writing in English. I live in Solingen and my friend and myself work with helicopters almost every day. We restore old Schlüter Helis (Gazelle, Heli Baby, Bell 222) and have lot more in the pipeline. Of course we have modern helist, too. These are all scale models, like Lama, Jet Ranger, Bell 47G and others. So much to myself.
Some time ago we received some requests from club members, who wnated to convert their old Vario Skyfox mechanics, standing and hanging version, to electric. Finally we decided to construct a conversion unit which fits these type of mechanic. Pilots tell us, what motor and kv they intend to use and what the required head speed of the heli has to be. Also the LiPo configuration is important.
Mainly in use is the Scorpion 4035-500 with 500kv and Pyro 700-52 in combination with Kontronik's Jive 80+HV and a 12s LiPo configuration. First we built our own trainer version and used it for about 6 month. Everything worked fine (and the unit is stilll in use). We decided to work with a direkt drive (steel motor pinion and Delrin (POM) main gear. Later we made a belt drive version, which was prefered by some pilots. We even made a unit for a MD 900 with NOTAR. All units are working perfect.
In the meantime we have made many custom jobs for a variety of helis.
At this moment we test (since 8 month) a self constructed gear box to avoid any problems with the relatively week pinion with inner teeth. Don't forget that know much more electric power works on these. The conversion unit with our new gear box is no easy construction and thus a litte expensive.
The standard conversion unit is affordable and maybe the cheapest part when electrifying a gas engine driven big helicopter.
If anyone is interested in the kit pls. send me a direct mail to: bergfeld.r@t-online.de
I will provide you with foto's and more details.
Thanks
Rainer
