The Cozy F1 starts to look like a finished product
It looks like the cowl needs to be cut down still. The cutting template is included in the drawings, but I'm sure you have seen it.

The rib looks like a great project as well. Please make a topic, as there are few build topics nowadays.

    Thanks Jan.
Yes, I haven t cut the cowl yet... The template is already printed...

I really like ribs with outboards.

We have a small one 3.6 m with 15 HP in real life. Ideal to go from beach to beach during summertime with the family and enjoy swimming. Kids and wife love it.

I will make a topic as soon as possible...

And this is the real thing... It's top speed is 49km/h only with one person (the driver)... IMG_20211003_093404.jpg

Finally the engine is mounted on the hull. I used a 2mm carbon fiber plate to reinforce the transom and to make the extra basis for the engine. IMG_20211003_151013.jpg IMG_20211003_151024.jpg

What is the purpose of the black adapter between the outboard and the transom? It also looks like you offset the outboard to the left a little, probably to prevent the prop torque?

I followed your suggestion to pull out the engine away from the hull to have more space between the cowl and the engine when turning. I have gained 8mm. Do you think that is not necessary?
Yes you right it seems like that. It's probably the angle of the picture. I will measure again to be sure.

I guess the adapter is not required. Maybe you found in my build log that the space for the steering links was too tight originally. That's why the back of the radio box sits a little lower, to make space for the steering rods with harmonica rubbers.

Thanks Jan. Good to know, I save some grammars without the adapter.

Afterall, I think that the cowl came out well.
I cut the cowl with a lexan scissor quite easily. IMG_20211005_191549.jpg More sanding is still needed...
IMG_20211005_191700.jpg 90 gr is not that bad, but not as low as the 58 gr of Dirk Jan's carbon cowl.

Hard to believe how many small imperfections are revealed with the spray putty... IMG_20211007_201450.jpg

For some reason I woke up early this morning... So I went to the workshop before going the kids to the school and started working.
    Adjusting the steering rods.
    IMG_20211008_061503.jpg
So close to and so far from the final product at the same time...

The engine was too close to the cowl. So, I finally used my carbon engine mount plate.

    Now looks better
    IMG_20211008_084900.jpg

Reinforcing the back edge of the cowl with a stripe of 110 gr of glass fiber. It was too thin from sanding:D.
    IMG_20211008_091549.jpg
Laminating with 50 gr glass fiber mostly for waterproofing.

Dim, my apologies you are completely right. The outboard does need an offset from the transom to fit nicely.
I could not remember correctly when you showed your insert a few posts back.

I now looked at my own Cozy F1 and yes.. it has an offset! See the image below. The bottom bolt is approx 20mm away from the transom:

Don't worry Jan!!;) It was just 4 screws. You built it 4 - 5 years ago, you cannot recall all the details of your construction!

Some progress with the interior. Steering rods still need adjustment... IMG_20211009_163840.jpg

    IMG_20211009_164105.jpg

The cowl cowl weights 85 gr after putty and sanding.

    IMG_20211009_122930.jpg
Time for the plywood at the front.
    IMG_20211009_160422.jpg

    IMG_20211009_161537.jpg

I wasn t satisfied with the smoothness of the surface, and I decided to sary a 2nd layer of putty to search for imperfections.
    IMG_20211009_164129.jpg

I was right. I want to get rid of these little spots... So epoxy putty on these.

    Nice work Dim

Sanding and painting is time consuming.. but it is worth the result.

Your water cooling tubes look quite large. It cannot hurt, some extra flow .

Αctually they are huge... 6 mm, but it was the only aluminum tube available at that moment... I "stole" it from a broken clothes rack:D.

This is where we are planning to run our models... Just 10 minutes from home (3km).
    IMG_20211009_100504.jpg
We are lucky enough to have a lake close to our home. Greece has fewer lakes compared to northern European countries. The seaside is about 20 km far away, but the sea there is wavy most of the time due to the northern winds.
