There's no real standard for engines, but most people choose one of 3 engines (for 10s)

- Hacker C50-14XL (inrunner)
- Plettenberg Xtra 30 EVO (outrunner)
- Axi 5330/F3A (outrunner)

The main advantage of the C50-14XL is it's low weight. Main disadvantage is it's gearbox, which will need maintenance. If I were to choose, I'd buy the AXI, its the most heavy one of the three, but also has the most power and is the cheapest. Good value for money.

Most used ESC is the Hacker/Jeti master spin 99 OPTO. If you're on a tight budget, the Hacker/Jeti master basic 90 OPTO is a good alternative, it's the same hardware but simpler software (with the main differences being: no fully adjustable brake and no low-spinup setting)

There's no real standard for propsizes, since it also depends on your flying style and personal preference, and the airframe it will be mounted on. If you choose the Plettenberg engine and it's 'in-spinner-mounting' option, you're stuck with Rasa props. Most people use Carbon props.

I don't think there's a real standard answer for the other questions. Most transmitter systems are being used. Only common factor would be that most top-flyers use a 2.4Ghz system, which is highly recommended for high-power electric setups.

Same thing goes for chargers. I've seen the IChargers (Hobbycity), but also Hyperion laders, or Thunderpower TP1010, and so on.

Theo,

I"m going to buy 2m X 2m F3A electric plane with 10cell Lipo.
For the planes, look at:
Oxai ( Beryll, Azurit, Ventura, Aries, Miss Wind Bi plane)
Composite-ARF (Integral, Valiant)
Lorenz (Wind S Pro, Gaudius, Leviosa, Amethyst, Axiome)
Aerobertics (Spark)

Can you help?

I want to know Europe top flier's following information.

Motor size, brand
Hacker F3A competition C50 14 XL
Hacker F3A competition C50 13 XL (in the more windy areas)
Plettenberg Evo 30

Prop size, brand, material (wood, carbon, glass..)
Carbon
between 21 x 14 and 20 x 16
used props; RASA, PT model and Mejlik

Lipo size, brand,
Rhino 4900 Zippy of Hobby city (best economical choice, probably also best performance)
Flightpower
Thunderpower
Polyquest

ESC size, brand,

Radio system,
2.4 GHZ is used nowadays by 95% of the contesters of WC in Portugal, Futaba MZ14, 12, 10 or JR are the most used brands

Charger they use,
Thunderpower TP1010 is the most used one, but the Hobbycity iCharger 1010B or the iCharger 208B (2 units needed) are very good alternatives.

Yoshi

regards
Job

Correct, the Spark is a model done by Krill, like the Axiome is a Oxai airframe, the WindS pro is Sebart, and so on.

Lorenz doesn't manufacture models, he sells them. It's about the only shop in Europe having such a broad spectrum of models to choose from, that's probably why Job mentioned them.

However, If I read the original question carefully, I'm under the impression that Yoshi has already chosen an airframe. His questions are engine, setup, and so on.

Might I inquire which model you will be flying Yoshi?

Besides that I'm also curious if you really will be competing next year. I've heard from Theo that you were training P11, so you can imagine our expectactions are high ;)

I assumed Hans would come up with a long list of links:p (useful sites)

Het is normaal niet de bedoeling dat ik als tussenpersoon ga handelen hier, ga proberen een account aan te maken voor yoshi zodat hij zelf kan reageren.

Ik kreeg van hem een nieuwe mail met info voor jullie.

mail zei:
Theo,

Someone asking me question. I tried to reply but could not read.

Can you reply for me?

I was flying ZEQUE for 2years in Japan with Yamada YS160 and competing F3A P07 at Pre masters class which is just below the highest class. I am interested in Wind S pro 2m X2m.

Yoshi.

Dit is het model waar hij in Japan mee vloog.

If you're contemplating the WindS pro, then I wouldn't go for a 10s setup, but choose the 8s setup. In total this setup is 200 grams lighter.
