Dear Daniel,

Without pictures this will not work. There is a youtube movie that shows how you can upload pictures from your pc to a forum album, and then how you can insert pictures from your album in your messages. It is in Dutch, but I think that by looking well enough you may be able to understand it:

When there are still problems don't hisitate to contact me, here or by a personal message (click on my name on the left end choose "stuur een privé bericht naar Ad Bakker").

Regards,

Ad Bakker

EDIT
I see you do it with ImagesHack, also OK. I wil see how ou can also place your picture in your message.

Wowww, thanks Ad Bakker, i do not speak Dutch, so it was a little hard... hahaha :)

No thanks at all, that's what we are here for.

The installation looks nice, but I cannot judge it. Although I am a mechanical engineer, steam is not my business. My work is more theoretical.

But I am sure that the steam members will have an opinion. However, I think this one photo will not be enough for a good evaluation. To facilitate that you could place some detail pictures of the different parts (engine, boiler etc.) from different angles of view.

Regards,

Ad Bakker

That's a nice plant you have Daniel.
The engine is a Graham TVR i guess?
I can't find anything wrong with it but the only thing i seem to be really missing is a feedwaterpump. This pump allows you to fill the boiler whilst it's under pressure.
Otherwhise you have to let off al the pressure and let the boiler cool down a bit to refill every time the waterlevel is too low.
I don't know what you are planning to do with the plant but when you are going to built it inside a boat a mechanically driven pump with a bypass is preferable over a hand driven pump. Otherwise a hand driven pump is ok.

The Maccsteam boiler has a connection already bolted on with a checkvalve. It's on the burner side on the left bottom. There you can connect the pump to.

Brazil is a long way from Holland. How did you end up on a Dutch moddeling forum?

Keep us posted!

Hi Wiggie, thanks for your reply. This engine is a TVR1A Graham, is a good engine, but small, i purchased a feed water pump and i'm awaiting the arrival, this pump is hand, but soon i will put a mechanical pump. Would be good to install an electric generator in marine plant, or only good for Stationary plant ?

What brought me to this forum been you, i was searching in Google pictures of Live Steam plants and i found photos of his work, i found incredible, and found it cool to talk to you, to understand your opinion, and maybe help me in my plan.

Here in Brazil Live Steam is very rare, not sells parts or there are shops for this, i buy all the parts abroad in traveling or on Internet, and not there are people who practice Live Steam here

Best regards =)

Hello Fadi, welcome!

If your plant will be in a modelboat a generator is not usefull. If something happens your out of power / out off control. You can use a accu to store the power, but you can run a long time on the accu alone, why use the generator at all? Above all you need to have some device that regulate's the current to a charge current for the accu. You can use the generator for show or lights but not for any RC components.

Hi Puffin,

Thanks for your help. Really an electric generator would not good, not usually see it in marine plants.

Best regards =)

Hi Friends

You think good install an Air Chamber with the water pump ? I do not know how to buy or make a ...

A wind chamber on the water feed line is a good thing. A simple T connection with a vertical colom closed at the top, a wide pipe with a cap will do. Make sure it can withstand the same presure or more as your boiler.

interesting stuff comes bye. Why do jou need the air chamber ? I guess the function of that device is to level off the pressure. But you pump water in the boiler where you already have air in. So where do you need this for ? Keep in mind that i am still learning how all this works.

greetings,

Timo

A windchamber levels the pressure of the feedwater coming from the pump to the boiler.
This way the checkvalve stays open as long as the pump is pumping so a more steady flow of feedwater is added to the hot boilerwater.
