Hoi Mischa.
Wel een heel mooi vliegtuig.
Even over electro.

The main reason for going electric was to allow us to fly on a scalediameter 3 blade prop. Initial tests were done on an H-200/6motor......this ran at a higher rpm (151 rpm per V as opposed to 110 rpmper V of the 200/8) and pulled significantly more current that we wanted. The 200/8 motor was substituted and we measure 257A at full power with anrpm IIRC around 4,500.
Cruise power settings were lower, somewhere around 2/3 power. A flightduration of between 6 and 7 minutes was achieved with a 'safe' 25%capacity left in the cells after taxi back. Go too much lower than thisand you run the risk of cell damage.....not an option with such expensivepacks.
Further experimentation was required on props & pitch to get a cruisepower setting closer to the 1/2 throttle point that would give us longerduration........considering the cost of the set-up, 6-7 minute in myopinion was pretty poor.
Charging was an issue......the packs could be charged at 13.5A...findingcharges to do this isnt easy........more so running 3 all together!!!! Youideally need to run these off mains power as a 12v system won't last 5minutes charging at these currents.
For me......I wouldn't go down this route. In my opinion, it's still not'proven'........with a gas motor, we can pick a motor, pick and prop, addfuel and we're 99% sure what sort of performance and duration we're goingto get. This is the case with smaller 'club size' electric models, but Ipersonally don't think thats the case on the VERY large set-up's. There isstill experimentation required on cell count & prop size........and buyingmultiple pairs of 28"-30" props which is what the 150's swing doesn't comecheap.
Just my 2p's worth.................(it can be done, but it sure aintsimple!!!)
Doe er mee war je wil.
Er zit een kern van waarheid in.
En zie dat bij dit project ook gebeuren.
Kik niet naar de cijfertjes.
Groeten Han.
