Lap Timer - Alternatief voor AMB

Een tijdje geleden kwam er op het nieuwtjes gedeelte een stukje voorbij over timeR, een lap counter die een concurrent voor AMB zou kunnen zijn.

Ik heb al wat gezocht maar nog geen online-info gevonden hierover.
Klinkt als een interessante concurrent voor AMB
Als het systeem goedkoop is, kan het in alle geval een pasklare oplossing zijn voor kleine RC-clubs

Nu heb ik eens op hun website gaan piepen om er achter te komen hoe hun systeem nu eigenlijk werkt.

Aangezien ik niet meteen een sensor zie zitten hoop ik dat het geen infrarood lap timer zal zijn maar op hun website DCD - DirtChampDesign - Next-Gen Personal RC Lap Timing System zeggen ze wel "IR Range >5m"
en daarbij lees ik oople.com het volgende:

@Ema: The reason why we placed the TimeR on a tripod is that you can place it in an angle towards the track. This makes it possible for the IR-beam placed inside the car to pass over the roof of other cars passing at the same time.

Of course there are limits to this as well. If you are running a 1/10 touring car at the same time as a 1/5 large scale, you CAN expereince problems. As long as you are running cars of similar size you should not have any problems.

If there are many cars on the track we suggest you place the tripod on something of about 0.5 meter height to increase the reliablility.

At this point the software can manage to run qualification heats (delayed start) and final mode (simultaneous start). You select which users that are in the race and the results are shown live in the race-tab. Whenever the race is finished you can export the results to a pdf and run another race. Beside the race results all the laps are stored in the corresponding user tab as well, for further analysis.

It is important to stress that we are not aiming to compete with AMB. But you will definitely be able to run small club races with a minimum of setup time and a much lower cost!

The TimeR uses a Class 1 Bluetooth link to the computer to provide the data in real-time. The TimeR can provide a free line of sight range of approximately 100m. However, the limiting factor will be the internal Bluetooth of whatever laptop you are using since they most of the time include a Class 2 Blutooth device. The idea is that if the range is enough using the internal Bluetooth you are fine, otherwise you can buy a USB-Bluetooth device which improves the range further.

We are aware that the device might seem a bit expensive, but considering that you can split it between your racing mates it will become more cost efficient than any other system out there.

As RC enthusiast I am curious on how your system works and what it will cost.
Could I save the lap times straight to a flat file?
How does the lap timer see what car passes when, is it by infrared (so the transponder must be in line of sight with the lap timer)?
Or can the transponder be put anywhere in the car?

What is the accuracy of the measurements?
What will the entire system to use for 1 car cost an how much more for each other car (transponder)?

Ze vragen €280 voordetimer en één transponder en dan €39 voor 1, €105 voor 3, €156 voor 5 en €273 voor 10 extra transponders.

Ik vraag me ook nog af of de transponders ook met usb moeten opgeladen worden?

Aangezien de transponders in het zicht moeten staan van de laptimer vraag ik me af wat er gebeurd als er twee auto's tegelijk voorbij rijden.

Ik ga het nog niet meteen bestellen want sinds de spektrum IR lap counter ben ik wat huiverig tegenover infrarood lap counters, maar diegenen die willen kunnen met volgende link al een pre-orderen, ze shippen rond april/mei:
