This two place side by side tri-gear all metal homebuilt aircraft was just completed by Gilles Vaillancort in July, 2005. Registered as N103ES, it is a Zenair CH701-SP model "Sky Jeep" with a 100 Hp Rotax 912 engine. The Rotax is a popular engine with home builders of experimental-class aircraft. The Zenair CH701-SP design is unusual with full span leading edge high-lift fixed slats (in red), full span ailerons, a three blade ground adjustable propeller and side by side seating.
This is a STOL (Short Takeoff and Land) aircraft billed as needing only 75 feet!!! for takeoff with that very high-lift wing. Hard to believe? Has to be seen! Cruise speed is 80 mph. Very economical operation.
Usually, in aircraft this small (and it is really small), if two place, they are tandem seating. Has an excellently-equipped instrument panel. This aircraft shows superb workmanship! Empty wt. 638 lbs. Gross wt. 1,100, lbs. This aircraft is one of a number of recent designs that qualifies for the new Light Sport Aircraft rule. Has an extremely beautiful and well-done paint scheme and extravagantly upholstered seats! No other performance details currently available as this hanger was unattended when the picture was taken.
