I knew doing these mats would be difficult, I was right. I kept making paper templates first. Tomorrow I can get them glued in.

I sold this model to a club mate. Today I stripped the gearbox and fitted a new gear and fresh grease. Then I had to sort the light out, he had tried and lost the red wire inside the ski frame tubes. So I soldered 2 new wires to the black wire and started pulling, luckily it worked. So new plug and bulb soldered in place. Then i even added a new part to the control panel.
He just needs a new 800mah Lipo for the light to go under front seat. 20230111_145053.jpg

Spent ridiculous amount of time , 2nd attempt too , making this drain for the decking. Anyway it's little details that bring it to life. I made the slots go right through and the printer produced them perfectly. I've also tackled another job which I kept putting off getting the girl to look like she's sat down, there is 3mm screw from inside the seat , I won't say where it ends up! Ouch. Photos to follow. 20230113_140927.jpg neptune drain.jpg

So I put some plastic film on the seat, then mixed up some filler . This was added to her rear before using the screw to attach her to the seat. Then the seat was screwed to the deck, after it dries I can remove the figure ,pull off the plastic, and tidy it all up. After painting her trousers I can do the final assembly, there should be a flat area which perfectly matches the seat. Then I can see if she will grip the steering wheel . 20230113_152538.jpg 20230113_152526.jpg

She has a nice relaxed casual grip on the steering wheel
I made a to do list, not very long, then set about crossing them out. Even considered taking it to the lake tomorrow, but decided not to, don't rush. 20230114_113950.jpg 20230114_170109.jpg 20230114_134722.jpg

    Jet outboard powered speedboat
I was having great fun speeding round what water there was avoiding huge chunks of ice floating free like icebergs hidden under the water. It wasn't one of those I hit it was a bouy, doing 43 kmh! It was a long way off so not sure what damage I had done, but I knew I could no longer see the outboard sticking up. We got the rescue boat out and wheeled it round to launch in the clear patch.
By moving the engine back by 5mm I have been able to make the swivel as I call it much wider, so stronger. I can't see that effecting the handling. I got a few results before the crash.[/ATTACH] 20230118_103305.jpg 20230118_161833.jpg 20230118_104258.jpg 20230118_163205.jpg

Had some trouble getting the white rubber so I have pinned some I had left over so you can see how it will look. So only the ski pole to do which I don't need for the maiden, so maybe Saturday if the ice has cleared. I have been decorating so the boat has to be put on hold, still loads to do so bear with me.
Paul should be back from his cruise so hopefully we can film the maiden.

At last we hit the water . Hope next time out i can get some filming done. Just working on the ski pole now. She is very heavy 17lbs ...7.5 kg thats with two 3s lipos. that makes it .5kg heavier than my sports fishing boat.

Now the new rib is up and running, my thoughts are on selling one. But which one, it was going to be the red one because the instruments on the blue one are much better. But there's not much between them so for now its the blue one, but how to power it? Then I spotted the jet fox laying on a shelf not been used for a while. I need to make a mounting swivel and solder some adapters to connect the motor. Then try it on the water see how it runs, should be good.

Sadly not to be, when I came to check the insides I got a shock ,two broken bearings, no oil and rusty.
There was no hint to this last time out which is weird. So I've kept the gears and cowl and binned the rest,
RIP Jet Fox. So now I need to build another VC JET they are less complicated and more reliable.

Photo from yesterday, great day we did some filming for the next utube video. First thing though was to do a little testing, so I thought it would be safe to start on 70% throttle, but that was too high I hit over 200amps lucky to get away with that. So kept reducing the throttle till I got to 43% which gave 100amps and plenty of speed too. Not clear yet why ,is it to do with the weight or was it because I used preheated batteries. I might do an oil change on the engine just in case .
Anyway we mounted a camera up front by removing the front cushion so hope to get some good shots from that. Then I couldn't resist trying out the ski pole pulling Olga on the knee board, it worked perfectly. 20230205_105726.jpg

Found a great app for taking stills from the video.... Enjoy the action shots!
We tried a go pro yesterday, very clear and no distortion I think I will put it on utube.

I put the boat on my pond to find the leak if there was one. At first nothing, just before l gave up I put some weight on the back by hand and there it was, the engine mount. So I drew up a much bigger surface on a new mount for a good seating and printed it, see photo. If I make the inside plate much bigger as well it can also double up as a strengthener for the transom . l might add hexagonal recesses for the nuts as its awkward getting a spanner in. I will add a sealant too. Some small alterations to the rear should deal with any water over the back as it slows down, then on acceleration it will run back out.
Photos... This is what it was built for.....ski boat. CB new FG_00:00:26_10-2-2023 05:37:27_0.jpg IMG_20230210_053232.jpg CB new FG_00:01:42_10-2-2023 05:38:43_0.jpg CB new FG_00:01:57_10-2-2023 05:39:19_0.jpg
