"The composite metal tubing and wood fuselage structure was mostly fabric covered. In some areas of both the fuselage and vertical tail surfaces, the fabric was stitched to the underlying stringers or ribs. Tapes, 1½ inches wide, were “doped” over the stitching. This is shown by triple lines in appropriate areas on the drawings. Metal panels and window frames were screwed to the underlying fuselage structure. The panels on the rear portion (accessory section) of the rear engine cowling were secured by “DZUS” fasteners to allow quick removal.
The elevators were built-up welded steel framework, covered with fabric. The fabric was stitched to the ribs and the stitching was covered with doped-on 1½ inch wide tapes. While there was negligible fabric sag between the ribs, the tapes were noticeable. The controllable elevator trimming tab on the port elevator was if metal construction. The trimming tab has a piano hinge on top surface.
The wings(?), ailerons, flaps and horizontal stabilizer were built-up of wood with plastic-bonded plywood skinning. The completed wooden assemblies were given a final covering of “doped-on” fabric. When painted and “hand-rubbed” these surfaces were very smooth."
Kennis iemand?
