Had a great float fly and came back in one piece with several great takeoffs and the equal number of not so spectacular landings - due to nerves,not enough speed and a new aircraft.
All in all just fantastic! Great weather and great friends for company.
Did a lot of taxi testing the first afternoon after we set up camp but that was all for the first day. Got used to the differential throttle on the water for handling and to see where she was going lift off comfortably. I'll upload that video later.
I got lots of video thanks to several friends - Karl was the first this morning to put one up on Youtube.
The first takeoff is the maiden - it was time to go!
After extensive testing and dealing with a servo that would not center. A little field surgery was necessary - thankfully we had internet access at the lake and I was able to log on here and see the necessary area of interest in detail (the elevator mechinism).
My landings were less than perfect by a long shot but I was able to walk away with a whole plane each time.
This plane is a dream to fly - no bad habits at all as you can see in the video.
Up on step at a little less than half throttle and a nice scale takeoff.
Turns with no hint of tip stall - gets into landing approach with a small bit of down elevator and easing off throttle - in my case a bit to much easing off but not a bad bone in the bag!
And most of all thanks to Bart for such an elegant and excellent design - not to mention his words of wisdom on what to do before hand - really helped and kept me focused.
